Harry, because that was the order of replacement, its as simple as that.
This will be M10. Going forward, all NFD medics are planned to be pickup cabs with gas engines.

Our issue with getting a four-wheel-drive F550 was the low clearance of the ambulance bays of the old crappy hospital we transported to.

Well Harry, they didn’t tell you that because that is not true. The busiest ambulances in that town goes something like this 9, 7, 4, 2. 10 and 1 are similar.

my way of looking at having the 4×4 is its better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it
i have a 4×4 ranger and i am glad because no town plows as good as franklin pk and morton grove and naperville i have used the 4×4 a lot there roads suck in the winter
nice looking thought i like thats it is gas verses diesel

I feel the F-450 or F-550 chassis 2×4 or 4×4 is the best chassis for ambulances. I prefer the 2×4 option as the 4×4 is used so little but I lost that argument years ago. I just don’t like the added maintenance and expenses associated with 4×4 ambulances.
Horton also makes one of the best ambulances out there. Definitely a great choice to consider!
In addition, Foster Coach is a wonderful organization! Highly recommended!
