Excerpts from rblandmark.com:
At its April 18 meeting, the Riverside Village Board approved the refurbishment of a ladder truck, a move that will allow another decade of service while saving at least $700,000 compared to buying a new truck.
The truck, which was manufactured in 2001, is due to be refurbished or retired because of its age. The work had originally been planned for next year, but it was involved in an accident at Station #2 and was sent to Seagrave where they were able to inspect the vehicle and identify it as an excellent candidate for refurbishment.
The work will cost the village about $383,000, although trustees approved allocating $400,000 to cover contingencies.
In comparison, a new truck from Seagrave, which is included in the villageās planned budget for 2027, would cost about $1.75 million today. Another manufacturer’s price is between $1.1 million and $2 million.

If Riverside is only dishing out $400k for a refurb, I’m thinking it’s a minor refurb. Either way, good for them!!! They are probably saving $2 million. This is a true testament of the Seagrave quality and most likely Riversides diligent maintenance.
