Excerpts from Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District on Facebook:
BCFPD was dispatched to the 0-100 block of Liberty Drive in South Barrington for a report of an attached garage fully-involved with fire.Upon arrival, crews reported a single-family structure with a fully-involved garage and active fire extending to the kitchen. The alarm was immediately upgraded to a Code 4 working fire response.Crews made an aggressive transitional attack by fighting the fire with exterior and interior lines.Due to the amount of water and manpower needed to extinguish this fire, a MABAS box alarm was requested.A tender shuttle operation was implemented for water supply that was able to sustain 1,000 gallons-per-minute within one half hour of the alarm. The fire was confined and contained to the area involved upon our arrival with heavy smoke and water damage throughout the structure.Salvage operations were conducted as the incident was deescalating. The occupants were able to escape without any major injuries, and were evaluated by on-scene emergency medical services. There were no firefighters injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
