This from Mike Summa for #TBT:
For TBT-Orland FPD’s Engines 7&8, 1999 Pierce Saber 1500/750. Photo taken at Orland Maintenance Bldg. I believe these two are dedicated spares, correct me if I am wrong. These two are probably gone since last week I spotted an Engine 8 in town which was a 2009 Spartan/Darley. Enjoy and comment.Mike Summa

Kevin, I believe the MVCC rig was given back and Orland had it at their training site earlier this year. It may have since been disposed of.

Both of these rigs are no longer in reserve service. Both of them had cracked frames as typical of Pierce in that era.
The current Engine 7 is the 2004 Pierce Enforcer. Formerly Engine 1 and Engine 5. It’s not a 2007.
The current Engine 8 is one of the Spartans, as Mr. Summa noted in his post. It was originally assigned to Engine 2 then it went to Engine 1 when 1 and 2 swapped the engine for the tower ladder, then Engine 3, now 8.
Engine 8 above has been gone since at least 2022. It was at Fire Truck Resource in Saunemin, IL along with Orland’s former Snorkel.
Orland currently has 2 Pierce engines on order, delivery sometime in 2156 A.D.

The former Engine 5 & 1, a 2007 Enforcer, is the current Engine 7.
The (3) 2009 Spartan/Darley’s are Engines 3 (frontline), 8 and 19.
The former Engine 8, 1999 Saber, (pictured above) had been redesignated as Engine 18.
Orland has a brand new maintenance facility, which is about a 1/4 of a block east of this building in the photos. I believe the former maintenance building has been repurposed for training and logistics.

Engine 7 got donated to moraine valley and the other I don’t know where it ending up might still be a training engine. But when engine 5 got their new pierce in 2016 the old engine 5 became engine 7

That looks sharp. Blends in with the red doors and bricks of the building.
