Mike C could’nt agree more on your post. Ive seen quite a few demos that become very problematic for FDs. The demos are definitely not well cared for. Example with Cicero when they bought the Tower Ladder from E-One. The tires were down on the threads. So E-One charged to replace the tires. Rear end was dragging, so Cicero had to pay for the alignment. Rig went thru 2 sets of rear springs in one year, then bucket hydraulics hoses had to all be replaced. all with a cost. Then all the little things after that, I seen how they beat the crap out of the demos when showing them off. So good luck

It’s not always the case, but it always seemed like the demos weren’t well cared for. I’ve done a lot of work on demos over the years and they were always way past their PM’s and had issues that nobody addressed. I know the manufacturers usually go through them before shipping them to their final home but I’m not a fan of demos. Of course, this is a time where you demos might be the only option since you can’t get trucks for years nowadays.

Nice SUTPHEN’s. Hey if you can get a better deal because they were demos, then by all means go ahead.

Both of these engines were Sutphen demos that Legacy made minor modifications for them. Cicero is maintaining both E-One engines & the old Seagrave engine as reserves. This was a great addition to the fleet with their E-Ones being 10+ years old in front line service.

What happened to one of the E-ones did one of them fall apart?

One was a demo that had some modifications to it. I was told it was an emergency purchase. They liked this one so much they bought a second with the same spec. The 1000 gallon tank was on the demo so they got the second one with a 1000 gallons to keep consistency. It’s just too bad they could make the tiller work. That would have been nice to see sutphen tiller in the area.

Don’t see many city depts going with 1000 gallon tanks. What’s the reason for this in Cicero??

Were these demos or did they spec them each differently. I see some minor differences between the two. Good looking rigs and congrats to Cicero!

Sharp, no nonsense rigs! I am guessing the E-Ones will be reserved now? Another suburb that has replaced it

I thought the tiller ran out of 2
