Mike m no it was a demo that fire chief Halverson was able to get fairly quicki know him from when he was on Franklin Park as a ff lt and bc and I don’t think it has been decided what they are doing with the pierce it can’t hurt to keep it

New engine is impressive Don. Hopefully, many years of service. The backlog for new fire apparatus is unbelievable and sad. Didn’t think we would ever see it get to this point.

Sweet rig. Well thought out. Best of luck with it in the future. Just needs an 888 light in front.

Good point Daniel. I wonder if they will keep the Pierce as reserve for this rig and the Toyne as a reserve for the Truck. They have a very small suppression fleet of only 3 rigs, a 4th would not hurt.

I believe they have been running the 2002 Pierce as Squad 108 for a while, or at least the last year or so. The Pierce is marked as squad 108, as where the Toyne is marked as an engine and has a placard.

Does anyone know when this rig was ordered? Have they been waiting 2 or 3 years?

Sharp looking engine! I am guessing this rig will replace the 20 year old Pierce. I am guessing this will be frontline at station 108, the 2011 Toyne will become a reserve piece. It is hard to tell if there is as much room on this rig as there is on the Toyne. I was under the impression the Toyne was built as a Rescue Engine so it could stand in for the Pierce. When Ladder 107 was out of service in 2020-21, I thought they put the ladders equipment on the Pierce and the Toyne. The reason they ended up selling the Enforcer is because it was not a rescue engine.
I work in Bensenville, over the last 3 months all 3 fire rigs have gone out. The 2011 Toyne, the 2017 ladder, the Pierce is out now.
Looks like this vehicle is nearing completion!

Nice to see some trucks being shipped out. Seems like all the major apparatus builders are struggling to keep up with demand! Sounds like a 4 year wait or longer for some of the builders.

This is good. Now all they need is more staffing to actually man it.

Is this Engine custom built or a former stock unit?
