Chuck, Itasca has been planning a second station north of Thorndale rd (EOE) since I worked there in the 90’s. With the consolidation between WD & Itasca not happening this was inevitable. And there is nothing wrong with departments planning ahead and saving serious money by acquiring good used apparatus. Less time and probably less problems with older rigs.

Here we go with the suburbs already twitching about more companies and new stations before even one extra train has run under the CPKC merger. This is going to be a lot of time money and breath wasted over nothing.

Roselle spent $16,000 to repair the frame. The wording is small in the document but you can read it.

Hopefully they will only use this as a reserve engine. I guess the station that will be north of the tracks will be station 67. I know they alternate between the 2009 engine and the 2014 Pierce which one is first out. I am guessing one of those two will become the primary engine at the new station. I don’t know but it might be cheeper to re-frame an engine then buy a whole new one. Given the length of time it takes to build rigs now. If there is a way they can save time and money, I am sure they will do it. I wonder where the 2nd station is going to be? I am thinking somewhere in the large business park off the Elgin Ohare.
Right now the only other town that might have to look at a second station is Roselle. Wood Dale and Bensenville have stations on both sides of the tracks I am sure just in case something like this happened.
I have to give them credit for thinking ahead and being pro active about the situation with the merger.

Isn’t this the engine that needs to be reframed. One of the rigs needed a total reframe due to rotted out.
