Chuck, you’re really going to make a “fight them from the outside” insult on a fire where CFD is…..fighting it from the outside?!
And saying his comment was disrespectful when you’re insulting every “no doubt suburban” firefighter? Check yourself.
I’ll proudly be the only guy on air at a fire if it means more time with my family. No sense carrying around a 40lb pack as a decoration.

Hey Chuck – your suburban comment is unsubstantiated. Don’t know where you worked or if you are/were even on the job. Check your facts. On an annual basis, the suburban fire company to which I am assigned did more runs than over half of all CFD companies. Furthermore, we went to more working fires than half of CFD’s companies. So, you falling back on the old “CFD works, suburbs don’t” is just wrong. It is like the idiots who get on here and say “Chicago goes in fire buildings, suburbs sit outside”. Really – because I can point to about 1,000 photos that have appeared on this site alone of CFD guys throwing water in through a window or from mid-street.
Have you checked out run stats and working fire numbers for CFD companies like 92, 119, 79, 11, 97, 86, 64, 32, 34, 15, 80, 104, 74, etc? Even busier CFD companies are 80% EMS. So let’s drop the fake bravado and realize that we all work in a job that exposes us to carcinogens every day. It shortens lives. I have multiple family members that have died from cancer due to exposure on the fire department. Have not met a retiree yet who said “I’m glad I took all that smoke, it made me a better man”. As John Wayne said, “Life is tough, but it’s tougher when your stupid”.

My bad Chuck. I forgot smoke and it’s contaminates are only cancerous and cause lung damage in the suburbs. My father who was a CFD Captain died 5 years into retirement from cancer. He was the first one to call himself an Idiot. You’re right though, he probably got it once he retired and moved out of state.

I love how when someone mentions lack of SCBA with CFD they are automatically declared a terrible suburban firefighter. The CFD has their ways of doing things, its different. But just cause someone chooses to wear a mask doesn’t mean they only sit outside, Chuck. Maybe, want to enjoy their pension? I fail to see the disrespect in the comment…some opinion, some fact.

Another couch riding, fight them from the outside no doubt suburban type you are, Clark. Your comment was highly disrespectful.

Some really nice photos in this group. The one of the guy lying on the roll-down gate with a big line is classic. Love the ones of the buckets working low and up into the cockloft and ceiling areas. Suburban buckets are usually 100 ft high and raining on to unburned roofing. One of your better efforts for sure.

Always makes me shake my head to see these idiots choking smoke. Retirement will be really short lived for some of these guys.
