Excerpts from the ChicagoTribune.com:
Lincolnwood is one of the first suburbs in the area to locate a fire station at an assisted living facility, where many 9-1-1- calls originate.
The Lincolnwood Fire Department has opened its second, smaller station inside The Carrington at Lincolnwood, the assisted living facility that opened in 2018 at 3501 Northeast Parkway.
The station houses an ambulance and living quarters for two paramedics, and also serves residents and businesses in the east portion of Lincolnwood. Given its site, Lincolnwood Fire Chief Michael Hansen pointed to the immediate response times for Carrington residents as a significant benefit.
The station’s personnel will serve the Carrington, as well as the nearby Lincolnwood Place, another assisted living facility. The firefighters working at the Carrington will also be responsible for the Lincolnwood Town Center Mall, plus the village’s east side, serving over 45 percent of the community.
The department staffs the station from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., though Hansen did not rule out changes in operation times in the future. During the other 12 hours of the day, emergency services come from the station at 6900 N. Lincoln Avenue.
Creating the ambulance bay and space for paramedics was a goal for the Carrington’s ownership group when the facility was originally proposed to the village.

Station 45 was developed not only as a way to cover the busy east end of town but to provide additional sleeping quarters for a possible future increase in staffing. The current station barley has enough room when the station is fully staffed, especially if there is a medic student or other rider, for the current staffing level. Both ambulances have a still area and are responsible for such, even during the day. A15 cross staffs the Tower so if they get a call the tower goes OOS. If you listen to Lincolnwood on the scanner A15 is busier than A45 at times and Lincolnwood runs a good amount of simultaneous calls.

I think 43 is the next station number available through RED Center/Div 3? Do they still man eng/amb/trk with trk jumping to 2nd amb out of Sta 15? Will this ambo be in addition to the above Sta 15 staffing? Guessing not since its overnight 6p to 6a. Will truck be OOS at night? If this is solely to improve response times with no decrease in service, great. Im always leery of ideas like this when PSI is at the helm, not too many FD’s out there that are for profit like Lincolnwood. Is improving response times to Carrington worth a decreased level of service thousands of other people in the village, if theres a decrease in service?

What station number is that station? There is Station 15, is it 15 and 1/2?
It is a good idea to have a ambulance near where most calls originate?
