From Skokie Fire Department Firefighter’s Local 3033 Facebook:
We are officially saying goodbye to our 1993 Luverne Squad/Pumper. This rig has valiantly served us for many years “Squad 18” and as our reserve squad apparatus for when our frontline goes in for routine maintenance. A big thank you from all of us for being so reliable for so many years.
And from the archives of Larry Shapiro – Skokie Squad 18 when it first arrived in Skokie.
thanks Danny

Still looks great, after 28 years of service! My guess is the new Pierce will go to 16 and replace 16r.

S17R is the reserve. It is 1999 Pierce Saber this was the old Rescue 17, the spartan/luverne was spare squad for them.
On side note they ordered a new engine that will come later in the year. It is Pierce Enforcer PUC. I’m not sure if this will replace E16R 1997 Pierce Saber or the X Wilmette Engine that they bought a few years ago as spare. This is 1996 Eone Cyclone.

I wonder what rig will be used as the spare or reserve squad now?

Did another department buy it? Or is it just being sold for surplus? Agree with Crabby–still looks in good running condition.
