I misspoke, Engine 5 has a 1280 gal tank, not a 1380 gal.

Engine 7 has one of the 2005 E-One Typhoons. I’m not exactly sure why the switch was made but my guess is because 5’s still district and the surrounding still districts have most of the unhydranted portions of Napervilles response area. The original Idea for having it at 7’s was to keep it centrally located, but given that the south side is less built up then the north side, having it at 5’s makes more sense.

If Engine 5 has the 2019 E-One how old is the E-One Engine 7 has? Why did they make the switch?

Engine 5 got the 2019 E-One Cyclone engine that was originally assigned to Engine 7 Sometime towards the end of last year. It has a 1380 gallon tank.

Is eng.5 tanker/pump??? I was told a couple years ago that trk.1 had a mind of its own. The ladder would move when it felt like it.

I would assume with this price tag it will be similar to Truck 10?

Kevin,
2 medics (M3, M5) will be up or down based on staffing. This goes for the Rescue units too, which respond to CO calls without illness, trouble and elevator alarms, etc. If staffing is one above minimum, R1 goes up. 2 above, M3 goes up, and so on.
The added factor is the “power shift”, which has 3 personnel and runs Tues-Fri 0700-1700, commonly putting up one Medic and/or Rescue.

Here we are another affluent city that doesn’t care about fire protection. Just great 2 trucks for the whole city and they’re not even dedicated trucks as they have to act as engines in their still district.

That price tag…
#11 by Dave on February 18, 2021 - 12:29 PM
Station 1: Truck (Crimson Stick), Medic, TRT Unit
Station 2: Engine (Crimson), Medic
Station 3: Engine (E-One), Medic (Brown out)
Station 4: Engine (Pierce), Medic, HazMat Unit
Station 5: Engine (E-One tender), Medic (brown out), Battalion 2, Brush 5
Station 6: Engine (Crimson)
Station 7: Engine (E-One), Medic, Battalion 1, Water Rescue Unit
Station 8: Squad (Crimson)
Station 9: Squad (Crimson), Medic, Rescue 1 (ARV, brown out)
Station 10: Truck (Pierce Tower), Medic, Rescue 2 (ARV, brown out)
This will be Truck 1’s replacement, and will be a stick. Station 5’s truck went into reserve this past fall, when T9 became S9, and Sta. 10 became a truck house. This leave one stick and one tower (E-One) in reserve.

Which ladder truck will they be replacing? Will it be Ladder 1? Which stations will have ladders now? 1 and 10 for sure. Will 5 still have a ladder? Or did they go back to a engine? Station 9 will have the new squad. Station 3 got a new engine in 2018, Station 4 got new engine in 2018. Station 7 got a new engine in n 2019. Station 10 got new tower in 2020. Station 9 will get a new squad soon.
