Main reason for the gas option is the DEF and emissions control that causes many problems. Ford by offering a gas engine in the F-Series has been a big boon to the industry

Yeah in spite of FORD’s recent flubs, that new 7.3L should be a good tough engine. Too bad they won’t put it in the TRANSIT but oh well.
I’ll miss that smooth sound of the V10. I rode in many hotel shuttle buses with that engine.

For the 2020 MY, the gas engine will be the new 7.3-liter V-8. From what I’ve seen in terms of pricing, the savings is about $8k. If the 7.3 gasser is a hit, I believe it will become very popular in the ambulance industry. The 2021 E-series (coming in early 2020) will also receive the new V-8.

If it’s the 550 and a gasoline engine, that would be the old reliable 6.8L V10.

Any idea the cost difference between diesel and gas in an F-550 chassis?
Also, what gas engine is being utilized?
