This from Wayne Stuart for #TBT:
In the early 70’s the GFD took over the EMS transport service. Prior to that the local funeral homes handled all ambulance transports. The original ambulances were donated from the funeral homes. The FD started the EMS service with 4 ambulances, two BLS and two ALS. This was the first custom ambulance to be put in service. It was a 1974 Dodge/ National. It was assigned to Medic 501 an ALS ambulance at Station 1.

Currently 1 Paramedic Chase Car, 1-2 ALS Ambulances, and 2-3 BLS Ambulances. Their staffing fluctuates pretty regularly.
