The Sutphen shield on the cab face may have been a tip-off. Nothing survives Gary, IN.

It’s a 1982. Originally started it’s life as chrome yellow with white stripes as that was the color of all Glenwood rigs until around 1997 when they sent their 1972 Seagrave truck for refurb. This engine got the refurb treatment next in maybe 1998. It was in service with Glenwood as a spare until 2012 when it went to Gary, IN and ran as Engine 8. It kept all the Glenwood lettering and number, 436, even as Gary used it. After several years in Gary it’s pump was shot and never repaired as I understand it.

You’re right about SUTPHEN.
I looked at the picture some more and the headligh assembly should have been a clue.

Unfortunately, it’s a Sutphen. Looks about mid to late 80’s. Early Sutphens imitated Seagrave in appearance while the middle group had a Spartan or Duplex look. The way to tell the Sutphen look are those boxy headlights and three lights above them.

Looks sharp.
I’ll say that is somthing built on a DUPLEX chassis of circa 1980’s vintage.
