The Black and Red photo is circa 1990 – 1991 when they started the color change back. This truck (dare to say originally a quint in 1956) was delivered black over red and was repainted in about 1970ish. The refurbishment of this truck was done first so that it could go into service while H&L44, the 1980 100ft. rearmount could get its work done. As the 1956 had minimal compartments and two seats, a pick-up with a cap chased the ladder on fire calls for additional seating and equipment. The pick-up was Service 40. Great photos and great memories of watching this truck in the parades, in the firehouse and responding to calls.
Last item is that this truck was a featured Pirsch delivery and was the centerfold of a multiple page brochure and Fire Engineering advertisement in 1956.

Very nice. The Midwest sure had a lot of PIRSCH apparatus.
