Good news, Engine 71 got their E-One back over the last day or two after the rig was in for warranty work for at least 2 weeks.
Maybe Engine 59 will be lucky enough to get one of new ones that are being built for the new year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Marty Coyne are all of the new E-One engines going to have go in for warranty work? If 71’s rig went in then do the other ones have to go in as well? Or is this work only for Engine 71’s rig?

Thanks for the information Marty. It’s funny that Engine 71’s old hand me down from not one but from two rigs ago, the 1998 HME Luverne is still a front line rig at Engine 103 and might be one of the next rigs to be replaced however you never know.
John you are correct about three engines that might be on the list to be replaced soon, however there are a few older rigs out there that should also be replaced based on age. The three oldest front line rigs (as opposed to spares) are at Engine 94, Engine 104, and Engine 80 which are all 1997 long wheelbase HME/Luvernes. The next oldest batch are at Engine 11, 59, 103, and 74 which the last I heard were 1998 short wheelbase HME/Luvernes. There is a 1999 at Engine 39. Those were the only short wheelbase Luvernes that Chicago purchased. At one time there were 10 which doesn’t include the 1997 models. So there are eight engines from the 1990’s that are still in service.

Any ideas where the new engines will be going? Are they replacing rigs solely by age or will they be going to busy companies. There’s are still some Hme rigs still out there. I know of a couple engine 103,59 and I believe engine 80. Thanks John

Can’t tell exactly but it’ll come in handy for cars that won’t get out of the way.

Anyone know the measurements of the front bumper? That sucker sticks way out.

What issues Engine 71 has been having?
Does anyone know how the new Squads have been holding up?

I wonder if Chicago will ever go back to Spartan…

Engine Company 71 from the second batch of new E-One engines has been in the shops for well over a week and perhaps even 2 weeks by now. I wonder if they have been having problems with any of the other new engines?
