The current squad 55 will be sold. It will not be kept as a spare apparatus.

My Father works for Schaumburg and is currently stationed at 55. Next Year will be his 30th year and his last due to a surgery he had involving the removal of a tumor. I have a question however: Does anyone know what will happen to the old (current) Squad 55 when this one is delivered?

Per my friend who’s a SFD member and is involved with the build of this piece, all hose will come off the rear. In the large rear compartment will be a pull out tray for all hose. No large diameter hose will be carried as the squad wouldn’t be used to supply another pump or aerial.

Wait, so the original question still has not been answered…where will their hose come off? It does not appear to have a top-side hosebed (that opening in the rear appears to be an access opening)…will the entire hosebed be inside? A “through-the-tank” setup?

I’ve always like Schaumburg Fire Department. I trained and rode their. Always had things simple and quick. Great job.

Schaumburg hasn’t run cross lays in years. Their hose beds are set up simple and to the point. 1-1.75 Line, 1-2.5 Line with a nozzle and 100’ of 1.75 finishes that and then a bed of 4” supply line. The older rigs also had a booster reel in the rear and some had a trash line too on the officers side under the ladders. With this being a squad they probably just carry some loose hose in a cabinet for rubbish fires.

It’s a Velocity. Meg is correct, Schaumburg doesn’t have crosslays on any of their engines, the squad will be no exception. The hosebed is in the rear and will contain their standard configuration of hose. Lead outs are all done from the rear of the engines due to the lack of crosslays.

Seems to be a very practical rig with the pump! Surprised more departments don’t do something like this!
Is this a Velocity chassis?

Schaumburg doesn’t run crosslays on any of their current rigs so I doubt it. Probably work off the side discharges or maybe a rear port.

The area between the cab and the pump will be the cross lays it appears

Where will the hoses come off of?
