Just don’t get why they didn’t purchase a new one versus getting another old one?

River Grove had serious problems with the motors and transmissions of both Pierce rigs. The cost to maintain them was getting out of control. The Ex-schaumburg rig was purchased. The Ex-Evergreen park was donated

Pierce has one of the largest factories for fire apparatus. They have an aerial plant and then the rescue/arff plant as well as the main facility. They have been having some quality issues and have recently slowed their delivery time to help ensure a better quality level. We took delivery of a 2013 pumper and the only real issues are with the Cummins engine, not a Pierce issue.

Interesting information as always. I also wonder about the Wheaton engine, the two that they have are fairly new. That surprises me about Bloomingdale, first non Pierce for them in 20 plus years. I have heard that E-One has submitted bids on Bloomingdales last two engine purchases. I guess Bloomingdale liked what they saw.
From the post late last year, with the Hoffman Estates engine, It makes me wonder if Pierce is getting to confident with some of these departments that have been reliable Pierce customers for years. I wonder if the departments want something that Pierce is not willing to offer?

How many times are we going to see this post?

Mike, NO disrespect intended…but by what measure are you calling their facility small? I’ve been up three times for inspection trips on my department’s apparatus and small isn’t a word I’d use to describe it.

My eyes are on the Chicago Ridge quint and more so what is going to happen there once it arrives.

How is Pierce able to meet production on all these orders with their relatively small faciltiy? Does anyone know if they subcontract much of the work? It must be hard to keep the quality.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Does anyone know if the new Wheaton engine will be added as a third 1st due engine co. or will it replacing engines 37 or 39? I know both those engines are still fairly new.
