This from Dan McInerney:
Fire Replicas came out today and took 300 or so photos of the rig for an upcoming model. It will be a 1:50 scale, presentation quality model that will have a display case. We are told the amount of detail will be impressive. The prototype will debut at FDIC at the Fire Replicas booth. More to come as the project progresses……

A department that has minimal manning, a mini-pumper (haven’t seen one build in a long time) would be a waste of resources. Another quint or rescue-pumper would make a heck of a lot more sense than a mini-pumper.
When did you get this information if you use to hang out at the station?
#4 by HWD37 on January 20, 2015 - 2:23 PM
This was probably some time last year can’t remember exactly
#5 by Braeden on January 20, 2015 - 12:16 PM
@ HWD37, makes me wonder where you get all your information from to begin with and just how accurate it really is. A mini pumper? really? At least 2020 to replace the quint? Really?
#6 by HWD37 on January 20, 2015 - 12:20 PM
I used to always hang out at the station when I was younger. Just going off the information I was told. Not sure if it’s true or not but I’m not gonna make up what one of the battalion chiefs told me. I asked what will be replacing the truck. He told me most likely a mini pumper. I asked how long will the truck last Highwood? He said probably till up close or till 2020 I’m not making stuff up. You have questions call them up and ask. Like I Sadi I’m 14 I’m not looking to start trouble I may have said something in a misleading way and if I did I’m sorry when I was younger I was very close with them

Ok I’m sorry when I say we I mean the city not me I’m 14 cut me some slack here please

You are 100% correct DG, HWD37, you aren’t a firefighter there. Don’t say “We.”
#9 by DG on January 20, 2015 - 11:16 AM
HWD37, if you say you aren’t a FF in Highwood or anywhere yet, then you shouldn’t say “we” when talking about that department. It is misleading and a misrepresentation of who you are.

Highwood runs with 2 on the truck and 2 on the ambulance. HP Come in on all AFA’s and we also go to HP for some AFA’s depending where they are. sometimes HP is so busy we go all the way to Ravina for runs. Also for our full Code 3’s we get Lake Forest tower so it’s not like we aren’t getting roof access to a building if we get rid of the quint in the not near future. They are saying we will have it until at least 2020 depending on how it runs. We just got it refurbished and re lettered

While it would make perfect sense for the HIghwood Station to officially become part of the Highland Park fire deparment (since they generally speaking run together with Highland Park Station 34 on many runs to begin with ) it still would be a bad idea for them to get rid of there quint because their next door neighbor to the south (Highland Park) doesn’t always run with enough manpower to keep their Truck 33 in service 24/7. I understand that when Highland Parks Truck 33 is due on Mutual Aide Boxes they have Engine 33’s crew “jump” on the Truck and Engine 33 goes out of service. On the days when Truck 33 is lucky enough to actually be in service they only run with a single driver which is their “Truck Crew”. At least Highwood’s Quint doesn’t run with a one man crew, now does it?
#12 by manny on January 19, 2015 - 10:24 PM
Why would Highwood buy a mini pumper?
#13 by HWD37 on January 19, 2015 - 10:26 PM
Small town with mutual aid right around the corner doesn’t need a big truck would make since to have a 100 ft truck company
#14 by HWD37 on January 19, 2015 - 8:23 PM
Ok Frank no need to go bashing about our department. No we will not be getting a pierce quint. I do believe a mini pumper is what will be replacing our truck in the not near future. Also the Red and Blue light thing belongs to cops not fire trucks. Fire trucks should have Red and White lights (Green if they have the CFD Tradition) not police blue and red. Like I said this is all opinion based. No need to be calling departments equipment garbage. it get’s the job done and gets emergency crews to the scene. what more can you ask for beside looks?
#15 by Frank on January 19, 2015 - 8:00 PM
At one time highwoods rigs did have red and blue n they looked sharp hopefully Highwood will get a pierce quint soon ND get rid of that hme garbage they are driving now
#16 by Frank on January 19, 2015 - 3:44 PM
Highwoods trucks looked better with red and blue lights not that ugly green n red lights they changed too
#17 by HWD37 on January 19, 2015 - 3:46 PM
That’s your opinion in my opinion fire truck shouldn’t have red and blue lights red and blue lights are for police cars the green was for the Chicago tradition that many suburban Departments have and carry with them I think the Green and Red look way better
#18 by firedawg on January 19, 2015 - 2:12 PM
they will do your rig, go to their web page and follow the instructions
#19 by HWD37 on January 19, 2015 - 10:44 AM
I wish they would come and build one for Highwood!
#20 by J on January 19, 2015 - 4:49 PM
Why would they build a model of an older weird looking truck. Im assuming your a firefighter in Highwood Niko?
#21 by HWD37 on January 19, 2015 - 5:15 PM
No I’m not a firefighter. I want one because it’s the town I live in and would like to see that since u collect these models. I’m 14 and a huge fire buff. Once I’m old enough I will be a firefighter.
