This from Steve Redick:
Back on the 2nd, in the 7300 block of Ibsen on the far northwest side. This was one in a string of workers in a normally very quiet area. Reported as going through the roof when I left the house, but it was pretty much done when I arrived. Basically a 1 line fire but they did wind up with 3 engines. All 3 dropped hose but only 110 actually charged the line.Interesting to note that due to all the training, Engine 110 was at a change of quarters at Engine 119 and therefore first due at this job. Truck 55 was very aggressive placing the aerial and did a good job to “thread the needle” between all the trees. Squad 7 still with the Chicago Fire spare squad. All in all seemed like this was a very well handled job.Steve

Mike Mc it reminds me of the early days of the original Snorkel Squads when each one them ran with a Fog Pressure wagon at the second piece , remember?.

Mike Mc., Squad 7 is a 2 piece company, so both rigs respond and both rigs come home together. No different then Squad 1,2 or 5.

Fred I think it’s normal, when they raise the aerial over the cab it usually makes greater pressure on the front axle and the stabilizers lift the back a bit so it mostly looks like this.

Did Truck 55 sink in the ground when the chauffeur “beached” the truck or is it supposed to have that “kneel” look??

Does anyone know why Squad 7 doesn’t leave the little rig and the engineer at the airport when they respond to fires? The FF that rides on the officer side of the little rig could jump on the squad. The little rig would then still be availabe at O’Hare for car fires in the parking garages and the terminal ramps, although it would require a manpower assist from one of the engines. I seriously doubt if the little rig carries any important equipment since Squad 7’s regular rig is huge.
I’m sure someone gave this some thought over the years and there are reasons why they don’t. Just curious.
