DMc77 – thanks…although now that you clarify, we were kinda silly for riding standing up having those horns blasting not more than 5 feet from our heads! Do the headphones I see FF’s wearing on rigs act as noise cancelling devices?

Very aerodynamic front end. Still not a fan of the Sprinter look. Too European.

Yes – CFD USED to have air horns on top of their cabs right next to the sirens. And it caused hearing loss for many memebers over the years, so much so that a group of them got together and sued the city and Federal Signal and won. I have air horns on the rigs I ride and they can wake the dead. Definetely not something I want just over my head. NFPA 1901 even specifies audible warning devices be placed in the front of apparatus for that very reason.

There are ambulances out there that have airhorns mounted on top or above the cab.

Why would they cause a problem? Chicago firetrucks used to put them on the roof….and those were real!

I’m sure the air horns mounted on the roof won’t cause any problems……

That’s something you don’t see everyday
