New squad for MESS Canteen

The new Mess Canteen M-5 , quartered at the Barrington Countryside FPD station on Pepper Road, is X-Woodstock FRD. One of the features of the new unit is slide-out trays for supplies at deployments replacing the need for folding tables alongside the squad.

  The MESS canteen is a surburban equivalent of the 5-11 Club. They respond to fire scenes and provide warm/cold drinks, food and rehab services. They also participate in police activity or other prolonged public service activities. They are volunteer, non-profit and rely on donations for their operations.

  What exactly does a ‘MESS Canteen’ do? Pardon the ignorance, but I’m not a firefighter–just a respectful fan & admirer.
