From a command standpoint for the departments that practice the “Phoenix” way of IC, the Vans/Sprinters actually are the perfect vehicle. While not a “fan” or good in snow sometimes, the purpose is a field “initial” incident command function area and those do serve and meet that purpose. Personnally, I still prefer the SUV for mobility and abiltiy to get around during bad snows.

I never understood why chiefs used full size vans as command vehicles. They certainly have their place to move equipment and personnel but they make lousy command vehicles.
