Martin Nowak and Chris Dryer spotted new or in-production apparatus for two area departments:
- The Waukegan Fire Department has a new Type I ambulance from Medtec: IHC 4300 chassis
- Crimson is building a mini-pumper for the Tri-State Fire Protection District: 200-GPM pump and 250-gallon water tank

Supposedly this mini-pumper is to be used as a “chase” verhicle on ambulance calls. I believe tri-state is concerned with the amount of mileage being put on their apparatus. Currently I know Tri-state is chasing with a spare ambulance which was turned into a “squad” of sorts.

Mike….I really think you need to get over yourself. 1) again, I’m sorry that a 1 second phrase they say over the radio bothers you SO much. Maybe actually go do work around the station (if you’re even a firefighter) instead of being the lazy bum that everyone hates.
2) “laughing stock” WTF? It’s caused some good natured jokes around MABAS 10….but it’s not as though they are degraded or looked at as worse firefighters because of it….please tell me how it has indeed made them the “laughing stock” of the county.
3) As far as the 2-11s, I agree that sometimes it doesn’t appear they need to pull a 2-11…..but that being said, except for the ones that I’ve gone as m/a to, I cannot comment, because I was NOT there and do NOT know what was going on. And even if companies DO sit in staging…..SO WHAT?! Like was said to you before, it’s not as though MABAS 10 departments burn regularly, or even that busy! With only a few small exceptions, it doesn’t kill departments (especially the combination departments) to send an engine or truck and sit in staging for an hour. When something does happen…they have the resources they need.

They did not make the decision, it was forced upon them by their rogue administration. The members of the department are a smart group of people. They do not need to be reminded on how to use a seat belt. Just sounds stupid !! “all belted” has made Tri-State the laughing stock of Dupage County. Keep telling yourself, it was done for themselves and their families. I love every fire they have is a 2-11, and most companies sit in staging, never making it to the scene. Lets not go there !!

Mike, Maybe you can just stop listening to them and STFU. Do you wear your seat belt on the rig? Or even better are you even a firefighter or just some fan that has an opinion of how things should be done. These guys do this because they made a decision for themselves and their families and saying “all belted” on the air is just part of their commitment.

Maybe Tri-State can paint “all belted” in big bold letter on this vehicle, so they can stop saying it on the radio.
