Our thanks go out to Chris, one of our readers, for informing us that Crimson has updated the production photos of the first CFD Spartan/Crimson aerial ladder shown HERE. Crimson has mounted the aerial to a chassis with a finished cab. It appears that Crimson will have something to display later this month at the Fire Rescue International trade show in Chicago. It will be interesting to see the status of the body, since there have been no updated photos on the site for several weeks showing the progress. They’re obviously working very hard to make a good showing in Chicago.
There are also updated shots of an engine shown HERE with the pump module and body mounted to the chassis. perhaps this one will also be at the show.

Truck 51 is likely going to get either a 2000 E-One or a Pierce rearmount as a hand me down. They are not ALS or BLS. The new Crimson seemed to be set up for paramedic use. Also Truck 51’s Seagrave is among the few left in front line service. Truck 31, 59, 56, 61, 62 also have Seagraves.

Truck51 currently has the oldest front line Truck apparatus in in regular service as it using a 1995 Seagrave Patriot model rearmount aerial ladder as it was assigned the rig after it’s Pierce was totaled in a fatal accident a few years ago at 59th and Wentworth in which firefighter William Grant lost his life. Truck 51 is the most likely company to get the first Spartan Crimson assigned to it.

There is no official determination for which companies are going to receive the new trucks, but speculation is that they will go to the truck companies that are currently using the 1996 Seagrave trucks.
