The 22nd annual Lake County Fire Safety Expo was held on Saturday, May 18th at Gurnee Mills.

Fire apparatus and equipment from around Lake County were on display during the four-hour event and featured demonstrations from the Waukegan Fire Department Bomb Squad, Lake County High Angle Rescue Team, as well as an auto extrication demo and live fire side-by-side presentation.

2017 Lake County Fire Expo

On Saturday, May 13, the Lake County Fire Chief’s Association will host the 20th annual Fire Safety Expo at Gurnee Mills.

Fire departments from across Lake County, including the Gurnee Fire Department and Waukegan Fire Department, will join forces to educate families about fire safety through a series of fun-filled activities.

Highlights include:

  • Kids’ Challenge
  • Slide down the fire pole
  • Take a ride in a fire truck
  • K9 presentation
  • Smokey the Bear
  • Seat Belt Convincer Rollover Simulator
  • Kids Safety Identification Booth – with free fingerprinting
  • Special “Passport to Safety” for all kids younger than 10

The first 1,000 children will receive a complimentary raffle ticket with their Passport to Safety. There will also be firefighter demonstrations, fire safety-themed games, and food available for purchase. Admission is free.

In an effort to prevent house fires and keep families safe, the Lake County Fire Chiefs Association held its annual Lake County Fire Safety Expo at Gurnee Mills on Saturday.
Nearly 20 Lake County fire departments were on hand to teach children and families the basics of fire safety and prevention.

The Lake County Fire Chiefs Association hosts a free fire safety expo on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Gurnee Mills. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in parking lot E, near Value City furniture. It features a Kids Challenge, a chance to slide down a fire pole and to ride on a fire truck, a K-9 demonstration and other activities. Purchase raffle tickets for $1 for a chance to win prizes, including an overnight stay at Key Lime Cove, a family 4-pack for Six Flags Great America and a shopping spree at Gurnee Mills.
