Yes, this truck has a 1500 gpm pump with a 300 gal tank same as their other trucks. They also have a Pierce engine on order for delivery next year. Not sure who that will go to.
The city was planning on considering station consolidations a few years ago (2018 I believe) but decided to postpone it until the city was more built up. The south side in particular has been built up quite a bit in recent years.

That’s certainly a handsome beast with plenty of storage. I like the green tip.

They had two engines delivered in 18, Engine 3 and 4. 2019 Engine 5,2020 Tower 10, 2021 Squad 9 and 2022 Truck 7. 6 New rigs in the last 5 years. Not bad.

It is a nice-looking truck! Maybe 8 or 9 stations would be better. I am surprised that 6 and 10 are only a mile apart.

Mike, I think part of the problem is that they have too many firehouses. 8 would suffice, but some would have double companies. 6 and 10 are only about a mile apart and they would be fine if engine 6 was at 10’s, just to start.

What’s sad is Naperville used to actually staff their department as it should be. When they only had 8 firehouses years ago they had 7 engines, 1 squad and I believe 3 trucks along with 5-6 ambulances. When chief Wu came in from Texas he started the downhill process of ruining the department. He made changes in operations and rank structure and after he left it just got worse. Now every house is a single suppression company and for as big and busy as they are only have 2 trucks for the entire city. Along with still browning out 1-2 ambulances per day. Compare Naperville to aurora. Naperville which is more affluent is less staffed then aurora which is more of a working class city.

Gerald, not sure it really matters.

Tim,
With that timeframe, you’re either lucky or an deep insider.
Guess we’ll see next time!

I told you guys weeks ago the new truck was going to 7 and station 1 was going back to an engine. There’s been a slight change in administration so that’s why they’re moving trucks (again).

No additional truck, Sta 1 will now have an engine instead of a truck. This will address some slower response time particularly to the NW corner of the city, as Sta 1 companies often have to get through the downtown area.

So…does anyone have the inside scoop as to why Naperville is putting a truck at station 7? Are they turning Engine 7 into Truck 7 to add another in-service truck company? It seems to me that they lack truck company coverage right now with only two trucks (station 1 and station 10).
