This from Mike Summa:
Here is a picture of Oak Lawn Truck 12, a 1970’s rear mount aerial. This was built by American Fire Apparatus of Battle Creek, Michigan. I believe this was built on a low-profile Oshkosh chassis. Enjoy and comment.Mike Summa

Sorry if my description is in error. I looked at Walt McCalls book, ” American Fire Engines” and I found one that looks similar so I just assumed it was the same.

I just double checked Forest Park, IL on Bill Friedrich’s page, and that’s not a low profile rig.

For delivery photos, check the American Fire Apparatus Photo Archive by Iconografix ; the pump panel and the intake/discharge valves are unique to American

Very nice. Not many low profile rigs out there anymore but they were sure popular back then and many thought they would be the future design by now.

This tower ladder along with a similar Oshkosh/American Fire Apparatus pumper, Engine 28, were both purchased in 1975 in conjunction with the opening of the newly built Station 1 at 103rd and Kostner.
