I forgot, Melrose Park had the “Tri-Boom” snorkel into mid 80’s when they replaced it with the Grumman AerialCat tower ladder. Hillside, Bellwood, Broadview & Melrose Park all bought them about the same time.

If I may throw my helmet in the ring and request the posting or Emailing of photos of Calumet City’s old Mack snorkel, from the 70’s and 80’s. Early in my career I rode on it to a couple of calls and remember seeing it when I visited my Dad at CCFD Station #2. That reinforced my love of the Fire Service (and CF Macks and snorkels) and got me started on my career. Thanks! Stay safe.

Elk Grove Village had a ’67 FWD/Oshkosh Pitman 85′, and Elgin had a mid 60’s ALF Aero Chief open cab they retired around ’88. It would be great to see a post on suburban snorkels.

Mount Prospect and Rollinw Meadows both had ALF Snorkles. RM’s was at the Arlington Park fire in 1985. Mount Prospect’s was at the Goldblatts fire in 1976.

Ok, “Admin”, now you’ve got me all nostaglic for suburban Snorkels, particularly in the 75ft range. How about a shot of Glenbrook’s Pierce, or a seperate posting on suburban Snorkels- Deerfield’s and Forest Park’s Crowns (85 ft) also come to mind….

we’ll see what we can do …
don’t forget Niles, Skokie, Wilmette, Winnetka, Bedford Park, Brookfield, Carol Stream, Stickney, Elmwood Park, Franklin Park, Glen Ellyn, Glenside, Orland, Oakbrook Terrace, Palatine, Rosemont, Sauk Village, plus Western Springs.
What others are missing from the list (excluding Hi-Rangers and ALFco Aero Chiefs)

The Engine 207 on the commercial 2-door chassis was delivered to the GFD in the late 1980s. It bore a brass plaque dedicating it to Jack Ryan, a retired POC whom I had the pleasure to serve with when I was a contract PM/FF there from 82-89. Jack passed away last November at the age of 78. This E-207 ran primarily on extrications at that time. About the time the rig was ordered the original NFPA 1500 standard was enacted and with it came the ban on tailboard riding, a practice that was used regularly on the predecessor to E-207, 203 a 1973 Dodge Pierce mini-pumper.
