Dan Jasina and a group of Detroit buffs were at Hike Metal Products in Wheatley, Ontario today and took a bunch of photos of Chicago’s new fire boat. The boat is scheduled to leave Wheatley this Friday, April 15, for its maiden voyage to Chicago. Dan submitted several images of the boat.

They won’t do that because it’s an actual engine company and according to our contract anytime a company (engine, truck, squad, etc.) is taken out of service they must put another company in service somewhere in the city.

So Joe will the number Engine 58 be retired like Engines 37 and 41were (the two other fireboats)?

That makes sense for it to be Engine Co. 2, since FF Wheatley was a member of Truck 2. A very nice honor in his memory.

Another nice tribute to chris, he was assigned to Truck 2.

Yes, Dan, they had the name up online….but it still needs an Engine Company #. But I would assume E58, as well.

Very impressive looking boat, (long over due), now that the name is established, what is the engine number going to be?
