The Gary Fire Department operated this 1950 American La France pumper Serial #L-4034. It had a 1000-GPM pump and a 300-gallon tank. It also carried a 40Ft. and a 38 Ft. ladder as well as a 24 Ft. and a 12 Ft roof ladder. It ran as Engine Company No. 7 in Miller for many years.wayne stuart collection

The Gary FD operated this 1950 American LaFrance 700 series pumper. It had a 1000-GPM pump and a 300-gallon booster tank.. It was originally assigned to Truck Company 5 in Glen Park and later to Engine Company 11 in Miller.

The Gary Fire Department operated two of these 1970 American LaFrance 900 series ladders. They had 100′ ladders and 200 gallon booster tanks. This one carried ALF serial # 2-1-2323 and was assigned to Truck Co. 2. These photos are pre and post rehab in 1982. It was rather unique because the cab roof was cut out to lower the overall height of the rig to accommodate the low door height of the apparatus bay. It was one of the few Gary apparatus that remained in it’s original assignment for the majority of its career.
