Lemont’s growing population and increased demand for emergency services have led to longer response times, which can make a critical difference in emergencies.

To address this, a bond referendum on the November 5 ballot proposes relocating two fire stations plus renovating and updating others to make our community safer.

The proposal would improve response times and ensure that firefighters and paramedics have access to the tools and training needed to protect the community.

The Bond Referendum Would:

  • Relocate Fire Stations #1 & #3 To Improve Response Times
  • Ensure that all four stations provide:
    • Separate gear storage space to lower exposure to carcinogens for our personnel
    • Space for up-to-date emergency vehicles and emergency medical, fire, and rescue equipment.
    • The ability to house the nationally recommended number of firefighter/paramedics.

If approved by voters, the $46 million bond proposal will result in an additional investment of approximately $185 per year or $15.41 a month for the owner of a $400,000 home in Cook County and approximately $209 a year or $17.41 per month in DuPage and Will County.
