I was vacationing in Littleton, NC this summer and ran across Addison’s old tower now working as Tower Ladder 11 for Roanoke Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department. This is its newest placement after serving for Little Creek Fire Company in DE.

Frankfort had a technical rescue last night (1/11/24) for a utility contractor trapped on the roof of the 125-foot Frankfort Grainery building, a local landmark. The contractor, not yet identified, was working on the large antenna on top of the building, when he fell about 15 feet, breaking his arm. He called 9-1-1 on his own cellphone, which eventually initiated a response from the MABAS 19 and CART technical rescue teams. Tinley Park FD deployed their tower ladder and was able to take the man down to the ground from a window about 80 feet up before being loaded into Frankfort Ambulance 73. The initial call went out at around 5:30 with units clear at around 7-8:00

Excerpts from wgntv.com:
A man was rescued Thursday afternoon at the Frankfort Grainery after he fell while working on an antenna. The man fell around 2:30 p.m. while he was working on a cell phone tower and severely fractured his arm.
Around 4:45 p.m, the Frankfort Fire Department and other agencies started to bring the worker down.
“He was on top of the roof, had about a 15-foot fall with a severe arm injury,” Frankfort Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Paul Kinsella said. “We quickly made contact with him via cell phone, deployed a drone up to get a visual on him right away, realized he wouldn’t be able to walk down.”
Firefighters from multiple agencies and technical rescue teams were called in to help.
Once firefighters made it to the roof, they warmed the man with blankets and hot packs.
thanks Martin

This from Colton Latham:
New Lenox Fire Protection District Truck 61 has been out of service for a few months now waiting for parts. In the meantime, New Lenox has been using their new-to-them engine. It is a 2006 Pierce Enforcer and was formerly Manhattan Fire Protection District Engine 81. New Lenox purchased it from Manhattan around July of 2022. It is now the current frontline out of station 61 and will possibly be the reserve engine.
In other New Lenox news, the Sutphen engine that was at 63 is being torn apart and has been sold to a private buyer. This engine was formerly a demo unit used by the Chicagoland Motor Speedway and was then purchased by New Lenox. According to some of the firefighters, it worked well but had awful suspension. It will be gone by the end of 2023.

Engine 10S (former engine 10) – 1998 Pierce Lance ?/1500/20 … as I was told by the firefighters on shift. Still going strong with 136,986 miles and hopefully an even longer future protecting the people of O’Hare International Airport!(Photographed at Rescue Station 3 at a reserve for Engine 9) I am still a little puzzled why 9S wasn’t there instead, but overall I’m just happy to have gotten some good shots. Thank you so much to the crew at Rescue 3!
