Steve is correct Dallas runs with 7 Tillered Aerial Ladder Truck companies which up until now have been Spartan/ Ervs and prior to that they were Spartan /Crimsons and Quality apparatus. They also have 13 rearmounter Aerial Ladder and 3 Tower Ladders which includes 2 midmount and 1 rearmount. Dallas had only just started to going to Pierce Engines and Truck over the last 3 to 4 years and they also have changed their color scheme from White over Red to the dark red you see in the above photo. The change in manufacturer occured when they hired a New Chief of the Department from Round Rock Texas who had a preference for Pierce products. Chief David C Coatney however only stayed at Dallas just a couple of years at the most and then he left to become the Head of Engineering Serive extension at Texas A&m University. Before the recent change to Pierce Dallas was an almost exclusive customer of Spartan based rigs. Much like Chicago was.

Hi!
There is a comment at the top of this thread which reads “(First tillers for Dallas)”, These will be the first Pierce tillers for Dallas. DFD operates and has operated several ladder companies using TDA’s for many years. Yes this looks nice, but I would rather see some new Seagrave apparatus!

I doubt looks played a roll in this decision. At least I would hope appearance isn’t their top priority. Guessing cost played a roll in this decision.

Wonder why Dallas went from the Velocity on their recent ladder purchase to the Enforcer.

They do have a tiller rescue in production. If you go to the Siddons Martin page, you’ll see job 36225 “Enforcer HDR Tiller”
