#2 by Mike C on December 11, 2018 - 7:13 PM
Harry, Do you want to just fess up and admit you are WRONG?!?!?
#3 by Mike C on December 10, 2018 - 9:44 PM
So Harry where is your evidence or proof that Horton took over Medtec?
#4 by harry on December 10, 2018 - 8:44 PM
well braeden as for snowplows they are not created equal dodge plus western plus cummins diesel equals perfect I am not a fan of boss meyer and fisher and so on and as for blue lights I think blue lights should be on fire trucks because for anyone that disagrees then there is a good point to be made and that is cops should not be ff and ff should not be ff as in like Rosemont and glencoe

Harry is a thing that you could never convince the number 4 is different from the color green. Just a typical closed minded snowflake.

Opening up a cold beer, lighting a cigar and sitting back on the recliner watching the fireworks.
Now let’s get Harry going on fire department plow trucks and blue lights 🙂 LOL

Harry,
Unfortunately, you are incorrect assuming Horton acquired Medtec. Per the 2012 Oshkosh Annual Report (10-K). Basically, it indicates that Oshkosh shuttered the Medtec operations. If it were sold that information would be part of a 10-K per SEC guidelines.
I added the link for your review.

In January 2011, we began the consolidation of Medtec Ambulance production into fire & emergency segment facilities in Bradenton, Florida. We had expected that the move of ambulance production from four separate facilities to a dedicated production facility in Florida would result in significantly improved performance. Despite efforts by numerous dedicated individuals and teams, the business continued to operate at a loss and it became apparent that the Medtec product line would not achieve profitability in a reasonable time frame, if at all, and as a result a decision was made to exit the business. Costs to exit this business may exceed our estimates and could adversely affect our future earnings and cash flows. Furthermore, such actions may be disruptive to our other businesses in the fire & emergency segment.

Horton is owned by the Rev group.

I do not see a Med Tec on that site. My recollection is very similar to the many others who have posted here.

Medtec is still owned by Oshkosh. They shut it down not sell it. As for foster coach, they were our local dealer for medtec they since moved on to sell Horton and some other brands. I’ve tried looking up the “sale” and couldnt find anything.

Harry, relax. There’s no reason to be disrespectful to others here. You have made incorrect comments about departments on this blog in the past, including mine. You’re not entirely right about everything.

Well prove you’re facts than Harry!!! Stop saying that you know more than most unless you can prove otherwise!! Quit being an arm chair quarterback!!
#16 by harry on December 9, 2018 - 2:46 PM
well Sebastian I know for a fact that medtec ambos are now owned by Horton but you can believe what u want I know facts I know more about fire trucks than most firefighters as far as make model year how long they have had it exact date it went in service and whos it was by how it looks and pk ridge il niles il and palm beach gardens fl fire all told me what I already knew that medtecs while they have not been made in a while they are now owned by Horton but I am not going to keep argueing about something that I know is fact

Harry here is a link for you to read.. https://www.jems.com/articles/2012/06/oshkosh-corporation-announces-shutdown-m.html
Because clearly you have no idea about the fire service let alone fire apparatus. Because horton does not own medtec.. medtec is defunct!! So please educate yourself before you run you’re mouth.
Thank you

mike c that does not prove anything but you can think what u want because I know more about fire vehicles than most firefighters
#19 by Big Moe on December 9, 2018 - 8:12 AM
Not that it matters but Medtec was based in Goshin, IN prior to Oshkosh relocating them to Florida. They did very well until Oshkosh introduced all their “efficiencies” and now they are dead.

Harry, you’re wrong. In the Chicagoland area, a lot of Med Tec customers went to Horton because Fosters Coach who was a Med Tec dealer took on the Horton line when Med Tec seized operations. Fosters Coach is a well ran family business. They have built a ton of great relationships because they do business with integrity. Horton has been made in Ohio for years. I think Med Tec was made in Florida. There is no affiliation. Look it up buddy!

Hi Harry,
Medtech was taken over by Pierce and due to mismanagment at Medtech, closed them down completely. The Medtech plant in Florida produces mini-pumpers for Pierce. Medtech was not taken over by Horton.
#24 by Richard Christensen on December 8, 2018 - 8:58 PM
Hi Mabas21, It is 516. 516 is the vehicle id for inventory purposes only. The engines have never been considered Engine Co. 516 or whatever number. Only Engine 12, 13, 14. All MP vehicles are in the 500 series.
#25 by harry on December 8, 2018 - 8:28 PM
mike c I can assure you that medtec is now owned by Horton because that is why niles went hortn because it was medtec same for pk ridge and as for palm beach gardens in florida had issues with medtec and that was why they did not go with Horton because they even said Horton is medtec and now they have all brauns frontline with no issues before u say I am wrong check your facts because also someone I don’t remember who called me out that I did not know what I was talking about ford f series ambos being offered gas engine and that was not true either the f series is only diesel for ambos
#26 by MABAS 21 on December 8, 2018 - 10:45 AM
Richard,
I comprehend that this is Engine 13, as the other two are 12 & 14. My statement is that MTPR didn’t letter it as “Engine ” with a “500” series number like the other current/previous engines, ie: Engine 515, 517, 518. I’m not criticizing, just an observation. So would this be 516 then?
Also does anyone know if the architectural plans for the new Station 13 are finalized? I’m just curious how/where the apparatus bays would be located/constructed on the former bank building. Thanks in advance for any responses.
#27 by Richard Christensen on December 8, 2018 - 8:58 AM
The engine is still considered Engine 13, No change. 516 is for inventory purposes.
#28 by Mike C on December 7, 2018 - 4:45 PM
Harry,
You are wrong…Medtec was not taken over by Horton. If memory serves me right, Medtec was a division of Oshkosh. Medtec seized operations when sales were poor and the company was not profitable.

Sharp looking engine

Very sharp looking DASH CF there.
Still would be nice if there were more with the fake gril omitted but still looks good either way.
#31 by MABAS 21 on December 6, 2018 - 6:25 PM
According to this website, Ambulance 13 is a 2012 Ford F-450/Medtec
#32 by harry on December 6, 2018 - 5:25 PM
the ambo I would say would be Horton I would guess being that Horton took medtec over and mp used medtec for years
#33 by MABAS 21 on December 6, 2018 - 4:47 PM
Since it appears that the previous numbering tradition is discontinued, would this be Engine Co. 516?
