Ya the chevrons do look different on the box than they did, though it might just be the lighting. I don’t get why everyone is so worked up about the chevrons anyway. Honestly it doesn’t matter, as long as they have chevrons that are reflective, especially because the squads go out for vehicle acccidents a lot of the time. The chevrons will get worn out over time as they’re used, so it doesn’t really make that much of a difference. Yes, it would look nice if they looked the same, but the colors are really just for aesthetics as long as they function properly.
Overall though, it’s how the truck performs rather than how it looks. You could have the most aesthetically pleasing truck that looks beautiful, but if it doesn’t function properly, its pretty much useless. Not to say that they shouldn’t care about the color, because it does matter for visibility reasons, and it gives the department a “signature” that distinguishes that department from other ones. Over the past few years, the stereotypical white over red color design, and have developed a more original color scheme. (Also, is it just me, or is the stereotypical color scheme for the Chicago area changed from white cab to black cab over red?)
This is just my opinion, but I’d like to hear what you guys think about it, On the other posts about the new squads for Chicago, it seems that the only thing people talked about were the different chevron colors. (And the fact that the booms on the Aux. squads aren’t “Snorkels”, but that discussion is for another day)

Kind of looks like they switched out the chevron striping on the boxes to match the colors on the boom rigs.

Who normally does the lettering and numbering for CFD? Is it Fleet Mgmnt or a contractor?
