Found at the Village of East Hazel Crest Fire Department on Facebook:
After almost 25 years of service in East Hazel Crest, today we said goodbye to Engine 18 (formerly 1670). We hope it goes on to serve for years to come at its new home with the Odell Fire Protection District.

Why would Thornton buy a 40yr old fire engine?

Michael m, Thornton got a 1984 Spartan/Pierreville, 1250/750/30B. They run run the Sutphen (Truck45) first out on almost everything. The 1996 Telesqurt (Engine 45) is still there, but I don’t know the status of Squad 45

What kind of engine did Thornton get? Did the engine replace their 1996 or the 1995 Ex Bloomingdale engine that is their Squad 45?

According an East Hazel Crest firefighter, Station 18 only existed when they were doing construction on 171th or one of the streets they use to go to the area west of the tracks. I don’t know the rest of the story as I know Station 18 has been around for a long time

Michael m, Engine 1680/117 is a 1985, last of the mid-80’s Pierrevilles in the area. EHC and Thornton got Engines, Dixmoor, an Engine/Tanker, Crestwood, an Engine/Rescue ( designated Squad), Harvey and Elwood ladder Trucks.

They do have a 1995 engine as 117. Will 117 become the new engine 18? I know the Rosenbauer they received in 23 is engine 17. Or are they going to take station 18 completely out of service?
