Excerpts from cwbchicago.com:

Cops arrested a man on April 1 after he allegedly stole a Chicago Fire Department battalion chief’s fully-marked SUV from Engine 98’s house at 202 East Chicago Avenue around 8:20 a.m. and went on a joyride.

The SUV’s GPS began pinging on the North Side where the battalion chief located it parked in the 1400 block of West Lunt, with 49-year-old Aaron Johnson behind the wheel. Johnson turned off the vehicle and surrendered the keys when the chief requested them. Officers arrived shortly after and confronted Johnson, who allegedly told them he was “having fun.”

He was arrested  but went home from the police station that evening with instructions to appear in court a week later. He was recently re-arrested on an active warrant issued after he failed to show up for that court date.
