Thanks for the information Ty. That sounds to me like they are having 21’s house run in a similar fashion to Des Plaines’ 63, with Squad 21 being the engine similar to Squad 63 and Rescue 21 being the support unit like Rescue 63 (the Ford/Alexis light rescue).

Evanston dispatches 3 engines, 2 trucks, 1 ambulance and a battalion chief on a general alarm, which is a reported fire. Evanston is keeping the current spartan/marion squad and it will be renamed Rescue 21

Does anyone know if the EFD is planning on a public push in ceremony for this rig?

This a surprise that Evanston is redesignating it’s Engine 21 as a Pumper/Squad. As a rule they do dispatch a third Engine if it sounds like they have something going, which they would classify as a Code 4 or at least some of the suburban fire department will dispatch a Code 4 on a working fire,
I wonder if they intend and keep their Heavy Rescue (Squad 21) or if they intend on getting rid of it, Their “Box Style” Squad 21 is basically an on call jump company which will be manned by the Engine company if special called on a Mabas Box or they can be manned by called back personnel.
I had heard during the past year that Evanston was planning on purchasing a new Mid Mounted Tower Ladder for their Truck 22 which is currently a Tillered Aerial Ladder Truck. That would be Evanstons first Elevating Platform if that is still the case as Evanston never even owned a Snorkel or for that matter a Tower Ladder which most of it’s neighboring fire departments do have.
That would be interesting as Skokie recently put a Mid Mounted Pierce Tower Ladder in service at Truck 18 so now Skokie runs both of their Trucks as Tower Ladders.
It would be great if Evanston does get a Tower Ladder
It is surprising to find out that Niles is intending to replace their Tower Ladder with a Tillered Aerial which is something that they used to run with before they purchased their present Tower Ladder.
I wonder how things are working out for Desplaines since they took their 2nd Truck company (Tower Ladder 63) out of service just few years ago and they just converted their Engine 63 into a Heavy Rescue Pumper Squad. Technically speaking they did put a light duty rescue Squad in service at Station 63 to go on Ambulance assist runs.
