The 117th Annual Chicago Auto Show will run from Saturday, February 8th through Monday, February 17th at McCormick Place.This year’s event includes vehicles on display from the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), Chicago Police Department, Cook County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police, Illinois Tollway, and the Secretary of State.ComEd has two electric service trucks on display. The U.S. Army and U.S. Marines both have large interactive displays and activities.NASCAR has a presence again this year with the official Chicago Street Race pace car on display and two other vehicles. Toyota has Cubs and Sox wrapped vehicles on exhibit.Tuesday, February 11th is First Responders/Military Appreciation Day. All police officers, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters and U.S. Military veterans or active duty can visit an identified location at the event to show their badge or military ID for free entry. Guests that accompany them receive a voucher for $5 off an adult admission.

I went down there Saturday for the first time since 2019. Not a bad show and I checked out that impressive unit. Very scaled back this time and only occupying one hall as opposed to two. Of course several car and truck builders didn’t show up this year.

And it’s funny they have money for an OEMC vehicle that’ll probably sit somewhere gathering dust but no money for fire apparatus in bulk.
