From Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD Facebook page:
In 2005, Squad 51 was introduced and put into service thanks to grants and department funding. Over the past 20 years, it has responded to numerous emergencies in Lake, Cook, McHenry, and even Kenosha counties. Squad 51 has been utilized for emergency medical services (EMS), auto accidents, residential and commercial fires, and technical rescues, including trench and structural collapse incidents. It has consistently served as our reliable workhorse, stepping in for fire engines and our ladder truck when they required maintenance and repairs. We are very excited to introduce our NEW Squad 51 and are confident it will serve us just as well as its predecessor. We invite you to stop by Station 51 to take a look at our new squad and perhaps even say goodbye to the original Squad 51! More pictures and videos of the new squad coming soon!!

I was wondering if Truck 51, the 2011 Pierce Enforcer with the 105 foot Aerial Ladder and the Tandem rear axles was sold off or exchanged when they received 2022 Pierce single rear axle Ascendent 107 foot Aerial which is assigned as Truck 53 or whether Truck 51 is still in Frontline service at Station 51?
I understand that 2016 very short wheelbase HME “Rat” pumper is now a spare Engine. If Truck 51 is no longer around and there is only a Truck at Station 53 it is an unusual set up that Station 51 which is the most Centrally located station shouldn’t have a Truck company assigned as they would normally be the 2nd due station to both Station 52 and Station 53 and it seems that Station 52 (based in Riverwoods) would have a fairly long wait for a Truck company to arrive considering that Truck 53 is on the far north end of the Lincolnshire Riverwoods District and Station 52 is on the far southeast end of the District. I understand that the New Squad does have a fire pump on board so it can act as an Engine despite the fact the Squad looks more a Heavy Rescue Squad. I would hope that they would at least keep a Truck at Station 51 to act as a Jump company if needed.

Both rigs look great. Station 51 huh? Funny I don’t see Johnny or Roy. No Capt. Stanley, Chet, Marco or Mike Stoker. OH well. 🙂
