No Aidan,
5-2-2 is being replaced by one of them and all the equipment that 5-2-2 carries will be palletized for easier use. The other flatbed will be assigned to the Special Operations Warehouse and will carry heavy timber for large shoring incidents. I personally don’t believe 5-2-1 will be replaced any time soon.

Will the new lumber units 5-2-8 and 5-2-9 replace both the 2007 Spartan/Hackney at 5-2-1 and the 1995 Seagrave at 5-2-2?

92,745 hours is a typo. There’s no way it has that many hours. Maybe 19,000 hours. The 1993 Seagrave Chicago recently got rid of was only in the 10’s of thousands of hours.

For anyone thinking that these trucks are worth trying to salvage, or if you think the city didn’t get their money out of them, they have run for almost 93,000 hours, which comes out to almost 11 hours a day for the last 22 years.

I’m sure Collapse Rescue 5-2-2 could used a new rig if it didn’t get a new one like 5-2-1.

With it being a 22 year old truck, it may still have useful parts to the rest of the Pierce trucks in the fleet. As far as the ladder goes, I was told it was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. I don’t know how much it would cost to rebuild or replace. Might have been worth getting it done to get a few years out of the truck until new ones arrived.

It’s amazing with all the issues with spares and parts that they don’t keep anything to use as parts rigs .
