Dennis , While you did not include 2605 or ambulance 64/ 2652 , let me clarify my information. JUST REMEMBER, the outer markings on engines 1, 2 & 3 may not have been changed to reflect the Actual Radio Designations (Especially for a VOLUNTEER Fire Department in those days when REAL Gold Leaf was the standard). So allow me to be clear – that until the 4 digit change which occurred across District 2 to provide standardization of unit types based on a common format , that the 4 Merrionette Park Fire department vehicles were using ” Rig Numbers 60-(Chief) , Engines 61-63 and Squad 45 or sometimes as 145 (prior to arrival of the New Type 2 Chevy Van Ambulance as 64 ) “. Note that the 3 fire suppression vehicles 4 digit numbers were White Vinyl after the assignment streamline and the ambulance received 2652 in blue reflective above the rear doors. Also Garden Homes used 70-74, while Calumet Park used 75-80 before the streamline. This Information comes from a 1972/73 District Two – Community Firefighters Association Document.

I also never said that the number 2613 wasn’t used before. Reading comprehension is half the battle to understanding knowledge.

Davy oh I know that. My comment had nothing to do with that. People are using fake names to start trouble.

Dennis, 2nd District/ Div. 22 changed numbers in the 80’s. I was on Dixmoor at the time.

Bill, I never said 2613 was a first time use so calm down.
Also the single digit number system MP first used was:
Engine 1 (Ahrens-Fox, FWD, Seagrave)
Engine 2 (White/General, FWD)
Truck 3 (GMC/PIERCE 30′ RM)
There was never a Amb. 45, the 67 international ambulance was Amb. 1
The 1977 Chevy was Amb. 64 (None of the other rigs changed numbers, there was no 61, 62, 63, etc.)
When the 4 digit number system was implemented, this was the following:
Engine 2603 (76 Seagrave, 05 Pierce)
Engine 2613 (63 FWD, 97 International/KME)
Trk. 2604 (15 Pierce)
Trk. 2614 ( 72/90 Mack/Pirsch, 1982/96 Mack/LTI)
Trk. 2664 (15 Pierce)
Amb. 2602 (09 Ford/Horton, 12 Ford/Horton)
Amb. 2612 ( 09 Ford/Horton)
Amb. 2652 (91 Ford/McCoy-Miller)
Amb. 2662 (06 Ford/Road Rescue)
Amb. 2672 (04 Ford/McCoy-Miller)
Amb. 2682 (09 Ford/Horton)
So, as I SAID numbers are reused but at a later date usually.
Bill I can provide photos of every rig with their unit designation if you need help.

ACTUALLY , 2613 was NOT a 1st time use as Dennis makes it sound.
Prior to these 4 digit numbers – the rigs were engine 1 , 2 , 3 & the ambulance (rescue squad 45). the 45 number was given back to PD , the ambulance became 64 as the rigs were now 61 , 62 & 63 . when implemented throughout District 2, assignments became
2603- engine 1 (61) the Seagrave ,
2613 – engine 2 (62) the FWD/ International Tractioneer,
2605- engine 3 (63) Pierce Aerialette 35′
and 2652 – Chevy Van Type 2 BLS level Ambulance.

Posen has reused numbers after using other numbers. Merrionette Park jumped around with numbers also. 2603 was used in the 1970’s until the 1997 Engine (2613)was bought. The old truck was 2614 then the current truck was numbered 2664 then 2604. If you understand the 4 digit number system it doesn’t make any sense for Merrionette Parks numbers. 2603 is (26) Department Number, (0) is unit number, (3) means an engine. So on the door of the engine is “ Engine 3” which means it’s really “ Engine Engine” goes the same with the truck.

Their numbering system is actually the old District 2 numbering system and not a Mabas system.

This should be Truck 2024. The tradition in MABAS 22 is not to reuse the old vehicle number, supposedly bad luck. Hence why the new engine is 2073, so the new truck should be 2024 unless it’s given a higher number.

From the renderings that I saw I believe it will be numbered 2014 when it comes to apparatus they follow the MABAS 22 numbering system but its not as rigid as others. Their Engines are 2023/2033/2063/2073, they just kinda seem to keep going when they get new rigs instead of taking an old number such as Posen or Merrionette Park.

Their OOS truck is 2014; are they keeping the same number? Or is going to be Truck 2024? Their new engine is 2073.

You’re right, Tim. I got confused, so sorry about that. When is the estimated delivery date if anyone knows?

They mean it’s going to be Truck 2014 as they have a 2000 series numbering system.
