Craig the cab and chassis is spartan one of fp lt and bc went to one of the South Chicago suburbs that has one near i55 and western and that town is similar to fp and the guys at fp were impressed so time will tell what the second engine will be it will either be similar to this or will be eone

I don’t know if any of you have actually put your hands on a fc94 cab but it’s the cheapest for a reason. It’s the thinnest, crappiest, least safe materials you can put together and still be NFPA compliant.
That’s fine for slower departments that don’t beat on their rigs, don’t get me wrong, but the big 3- Pierce, E-one, and Seagrave cost more and have long lead times for a reason. They’re built to take beatings day in and day out.

I’m not knocking the Fouts product, they make a decent rig, but Chicago is better off with E-One based on how long they keeps their rigs. In my opinion, I think E-One is at the top of the chart for best rigs built. I don’t see Chicago switching from E-One. I could be mistaken, but I believe Chicago’s spec calls for single source for their engines and trucks.
Although, I think Fouts makes a decent product, I always hated it when the chassis builder and the body builder are in a pissing match over warranty issues. It happens all too often and the end user gets stuck in the middle.

I agree with you Harry. I believe Chicago should look into these guys to get some replacements in.

Sebastian
I would say price and the fact I can get in in months months not years
Fp went to a dept I believe by interstate 55 near western that has a fouts bros engine and they liked what they saw

Harry,
Why do you think franklin park went away from marion for the new engines
#8 by Harry on June 29, 2024 - 7:41 PM
Steve.
Yes for now this is eng.1
Then the 2 Marion’s will be eng. 2 and a reserve
Then when fp gets the new one in 2025 that will go to eng. 1 again then this one will be eng. 2 and 1 of the Marion’s will be a spare and the other go

I agree with you Harry. I prefer the old Marion’s.
Will they keep one or both on as reserves?

Why wait 3-4 years for a Pierce when high quality small manufacturers can turn out rigs of better quality in less than half the time. Guys like Alexis, Toyne, Custom, Marion, Spencer, etc. give a personal touch at reasonable prices and in a timely manner. Hope it runs well and lasts along time.

I personally like the old ones better that fp has but this is likely going to be easier to get down tight streets and alleys
But at a cost of about 600 000 and a wait time of about 4 months it is a great choice so this is engine 1
If they like this one they will order another like this likely by end of year if not fp will have a new eone engine next year
