Michael M, yes that place can’t be considered to be a fire station unless it is actually used as one. If they were to “enlarge”it then it would have to be on the condition that it is actually used as one. Knowing the way many Chicago area fire departments operate perhaps it could be run as a jump company station or even if they ran an ALS Engine out of the place. Either way this is just wishful thinking as it is not about to happen as far as I know.
In terms of giving coverage for fire and ems protection, the next closest fire stations are all over 2 miles away and if they were going by the ISO (insurance service organization) standards then they should have a fire apparatus stationed there.

I agree station 22 should not even be considered a fire station. They did store reserve engines in the larger garage. Unfortunately apparatus have gotten too big for that station. What they should do is re model it. Make that bay long enough to fit the 05 Quantum and an Ambulance in. Yes they should find a way to at least man that station for even part of the day. Maybe have it be a jump company between the engine and the ambulance? I believe the last referendum they passed for the new Stuphen and the new Medic 21 was to set aside some money for building maintenance and to modernize station 22. Maybe that section of their district is not busy enough to warrant it or maybe Roselle adequately covers that area.

I have a question regarding the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District.
What is the purpose of Fire Station 2 in Keeneyville?. I know that it has been there a long time however it is has been listed as being “unmanned” for a long time as well. What is it used for and if the place is “unmanned” then why should it even be considered as a fire station?
I would assume that perhaps it could be used for storing some reserve equipment but if the place is “unmanned” then it should be called a storage garage. Is it a Volunteer Station perhaps? Even Volunteer Stations usually have someone manning the station. I know that Bloomingdale Stations1 and 3 are pretty nice modern places and that One runs with an Engine company and that Station 3 runs with the Tower Ladder and that they both run with Ambulances however they really don’t run with many frontline pieces considering that only run with one Engine and one Tower Ladder/quint and an “unmanned station”.

I stand corrected. Couldn’t tell from that distance given that most police cars are built by FORD now.

Harry, those FORD police cars are lemons. Sad day when they stopped building the CROWN VICTORIA.

That old Jeep Cherokee appeared to be in a good condition prior to being crushed by the bus.

I think it’s time to lift the mandate that school buses all have to be yellow and let the respective bus operator specify whatever color they want just like transit and over the road coaches. People don’t bother to pay attention anyway so that safety yellow doesn’t seem to be helpful.

It does not look like anyone was seriously injured. Glad to see Tower 23 is back, it has been OOS a very long time, at least 6 months maybe more.
