this was as i recall the first or 2nd tandem tractor pierce built. there was a twin unit that was in Eugene Oregon as well i believe it as

Was told by old Niles guys, the reason they went with a tiller is they were guaranteed 3 men on the truck. Don’t know what they’re staffing with the tower

Seattle’s entire TDA fleet are tandem axle tractors.

If I recall correctly, this was the first tandem axle tractor Pierce made.Niles wanted a heavy duty ladder and that required the tandem.
