A Cicero firefighter was injured Friday morning while battling a fire that broke out in a two-story house in the 5400 block of 30th Place at 5:45 a.m.
Firefighters were entering the house when the first floor collapsed, causing a firefighter to fall into the basement. The firefighter, identified by officials as 30-year-old Patrick Phillips, was transported to Loyola Hospital with second degree burns to his neck and first degree burns to his back and chest. Phillips joined the department about a year ago and is expected to make a full recovery.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
