Mokena and new lenox also have pierce engines on
Order. I wonder if anyone knows what chassis they will be built on

Jim, the Orland hose beds have chutes under them. They have Spartan/Darleys with 4 square chutes and the Pierces have 3. So for the 5 inch, the last 10 feet won’t stay on the top of the bed. It gets brought down and placed in one of the chutes. That way the hose can be pulled off without trying to get to it because the hose bed is pretty tall (Orland carries over 1000 feet of 5 inch and has 750 gallon tanks).
Another chute will have a skid load, another will have 2 1/2 with a preconnected blitz gun. Depending on the company 1 may have high rise bundles in it, and or rakes, shovels and grass paddles. So everything in the back you can pull just about pull from the ground. A unique set up and definitely not the “Naperville Spec” as alleged.

Tim,
What is different about the hose bed?

Negative Big Moe. As stated in a previous post Orland’s hose beds are totally different compared to those other departments. Also, it looks like the Homer rig has coffin compartments up top on the driver’s side. Orland’s Pierce engines don’t have that. The Homer cab layout is similar to Orland’s. They’ve used that layout before as many Orland guys had worked at Homer many moons ago.

Another Naperville spec engine hits the streets! Lisle, Orland, Oak Park, Evanston and now Homer. Catching on fast.
