This from Tony Carlini:

This was his dream vehicle for the department. Multi-purpose and reducing the aging fleet.

I wonder how this compares to in size and equipment to Schaumburg’s squad 55

I agree with Michael m, that rig is so huge they should name it Squadzilla or Son of Squadzilla. Some of us remember Squadzilla, the 1996 out of Prospect Heights Station 9 Pierce. This rig looks larger than that one.

What happens to a department like this when the rig goes OOS? Now they are effectively out 3 pieces of equipment. Multi tools are handy, but I’d rather have an a tool purpose built for a specific job.

Rj you must remember this is a rural department, and goes out on mutual aid a lot. So it will rack up the miles for sure, but this is one of the bigger departments in that area. So that is probably why it will keep lumber, which is used more than you would think. This isn’t just serving the town of Sandwich, and being that most of the surrounding area has no squad or specialized vehicle, as well as a lot of volunteer departments this apparatus, and what it carries makes total sense. This isn’t some random suburb flush with cash, this is filling a major need for the department, and to an extent the surrounding area. This is a very well thoughtout rig and will serve them well for years to come.

BEAST! hope they dont put a lotta miles on rig will beat itself to death. Is this first out rig? Carrying lumber and extremely heavy fin form?? Likely never get used but carry it around on every run? Thats equipment for s división vehicle or dedicated heavy rescue, needs Multiple techs to be used anyway. Interesting choice?

Looks nice! It is a beast! How about giving it the nickname Squadzilla? I am sure it will serve them well for many years! I wonder which engine they are going to get rid of? For sure the current 471 and 475 will be desposed of. Maybe engine 415?
