Pewaukee actually has (3) ambulances on KW T270 chassis. Many of the other chassis brands mentioned are simply noted used as they have not been certified for use in states that require that units meet KKK standards. Also, some are not available on 19.5″ tires (22.5″ only) which significantly impacts load height requirements. While I don’t know the exact cost to have a chassis certified to KKK standards, I’m told it is substantial. Nobody wants to pay those costs for a very limited audience. Similarly, popular 3rd party manufacturers, such as Liquid Spring, don’t have systems engineered for these other chassis brands.

It’s too bad that SPARTAN’s RT can’t seem to get over for ambulance duty. It’s still available. You can’t get more purpose built than that.

I just looked at the Pewaukee website, and I don’t see any KW or Mack chassis rigs. What are you trying to pull here Harry?

Hairy – What is it about the KW, Peterbuilt, and Mack chassis besides their appearance? All make great chassis’ but there’s reason they aren’t used for ambulance use.

A recent one I’m talking about Harry. Not the old sedan type Macks that were used in the early 1930’s-60’s.

Ron—Harry knows about PB Gardens because it’s his favorite department & compares most everything to them.

He probably had any number of FD and apparatus builders in his favorite lists.
#16 by Tim on April 8, 2020 - 10:55 AM
Harry, they don’t build ambos on Mack chassis’. Too expensive.
#17 by Ron Wolkoff on April 7, 2020 - 10:30 PM

Nice looking ambulance! I see they went back to the IHC Chasis. This Ambulance looks like it has a deeper red color.
